LCUSD can do more. We do a lot of things right in La Cañada schools, and we are lucky to have such a strong and committed community. But we do a disservice to our students by settling.
I can bring a unique perspective and set of experiences to the Governing Board. I am a founding member of a national nonprofit that mobilizes undergraduates in the education reform movement– this organization is now on over 20 college campuses nationwide. As a recent graduate of La Cañada schools I have the firsthand experience to bring the best education policies to our District. We can take our schools from good to great.
The Board can:
- Improve the quality of our teachers
- Broaden our mechanisms of accountability at all levels, and
- Make the Board a more accessible venue for parent, student and community voice.
But these and other important reforms will require pressure from the community, and any meaningful campaign for our schools must continue beyond Election Day.
This is why I have formed an Education Action Committee. Join me by taking the pledge here: on.fb.me/neMPZC!
